As The Australian Middle Eastern Association, we value the projects targeting the youth immensely. The number of people aged under 30 years comprise a significant amount in the resettled refugee population in NSW.

AMEA’s Youth Projects and Vision

Soccer Team: Currently we are in the process of creating a soccer team for young people aged 20 to 30. The team will be training in The City of Sydney facilities.

Free Course in Childcare Certificate 3: AMEA has recently organised free Certificate 3 Courses in Childcare for young mothers in partnership with TAFE and other colleges. AMEA helped 20 young mothers in Punchbowl by providing onsite childcare to accommodate for over 50 babies and helping 20 women’s in Liverpool by starting disability support worker course..

Witness of War Project: We are linking our members with the ‘Witness of War’ project facilitated by one of our valuable partner NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS). The project is designed to support individuals and families that have been directly exposed to or impacted by overseas conflicts and experiencing the negative consequences. The sessions take place in Fairfield every Thursday, from 12:30 to 14:00 during school terms, until the funding runs out.

Swimming Course: AMEA is running swimming courses in partnership with the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) for youth aged 8 to 18 in Term 3, 2018.

Finally, we are planning to increase the number of projects targeting our young members.
