The Australian Middle Eastern Association (AMEA) aims to address the challenges Arabic speaking refugees and asylum seekers facing in finding skilled employment. AMEA is helping its members to obtain Australian qualifications that can lead to employment.
With its partners, AMEA organises free on-site courses. AMEA has also been approved by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). AMEA is therefore able to provide Arabic speaking support workers to assist Arabic families who are from specific vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and new arrivals.
Of the many things to be proud of, AMEA has empowered 20 women to receive their childcare certificate by delivering courses in the comfort of their local churches. Many of these refugee women are now enrolled into Diploma in Childcare.
